West Indies bowling performance & challenges

The Indian batting stars on Ind vs WI Day 2

KL Rahul — guided the innings with calm authority, pacing his century beautifully. His return to form at No. 3 was a reminder of his value in red-ball cricket.  Rahul scored 100 (a century) in the first innings in Ahmedabad. This was his first Test century on home soil after many years.

His dismissal came shortly after he reached his ton — he edged a delivery from Jomel Warrican which was caught at short extra cover / the outfield.  Before his dismissal, Rahul had built a strong foundation with measured batting, pacing his innings before passing the baton to Jurel and Jadeja.

Dhruv Jurel — the moment of the day: a maiden Test century, Jurel scored 125 runs. Compact in defence, fluent with drives, and mentally strong — Jurel’s knock was the turning point of the Test. His innings was roughly 210 balls long.

He and Jadeja shared a massive 206-run partnership for the 5th wicket, turning the match decisively in India’s favour. Jurel’s wicket eventually came to spinner Khary Pierre, who had his first Test wicket in the match, catching Jurel behind. His celebration (a “gun salute”) was a tribute to his father, a veteran of the Indian Army.

Ravindra Jadeja — unbeaten at stumps, Jadeja showcased his dual ability: absorb pressure, then punish with boundaries. His ton ensured India’s dominance carried into Day 3. Jadeja remained not out on 104 at stumps. In his innings, he smashed five sixes. His approach was aggressive yet controlled — he attacked the bowlers (especially Warrican) and took advantage of rough patches.

Jadeja’s innings brought up his sixth Test century. In the later stages of the innings, he targeted spin and exploited loose lengths, keeping momentum with Jurel.
